Associate Professor of Musicology at Dokuz Eylül University, Turkey since 2015. President of Society for Interdisciplinary Musicology (SIM), from 2016-2018. Founding administrative editor of the Journal of Interdisciplinary Music Studies (JIMS). Secretary of Turkey Branch- International Association for the Study of Popular Music (IASPM) since 2009. Research in neuroscience of music, computational ethnomusicology, music information retrieval, popular music studies, Marxism and interdisciplinarity. Publications addressing traditional Turkish art music (computational and ethnomusicological approaches), popular music studies in Turkey and political music of Turkey, relation of Marxism and science, and musicological interdisciplinarity.  Articles in Journal of New Music Research, IASPM@Journal, Signal Processing, IEEE Transactions on Audio, Speech and Language Processing, Porte Akademik: Journal of Music and Dance Research and Marxist journal Gelenek.  Editor of books; Marxist Inquiries on Science: Marxism and Two Cultures (2015) in Turkish and Made in Turkey: Studies in Popular Music (Routledge Global Popular Music Series) forthcoming in 2017. Interdisciplinary PhD in electronic engineering, and ethnomusicology from the Izmir Institute of Technology and Interdisciplinary MSc. in musicology and neuroscience from the Dokuz Eylul University, Turkey, and a BSc. degree in electornic engineering from the Hacettepe University.
